Making great strides in both performance and music education, violist Sarah Cornett has appeared in ensembles across the country and holds a K-12 Music Teacher Certification. Most recently, Sarah was the orchestra director at Hilsman Middle School in Athens, Georgia where she also performed as a violist in the Athens Symphony Orchestra. Sarah is the founder of the Oconee Music strings program in Watkinsville, Georgia – the first string instruction program of its kind in the region. She has performed in educational outreach concerts and a variety of other community engagements throughout Virginia, North Carolina, Michigan, Texas, Georgia,
and Colorado. As an orchestral musician, Sarah has performed with the Longmont Symphony Orchestra, Eastern Festival Orchestra, Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, Midland-Odessa Symphony and Chorale, and the Adrian Symphony Orchestra. As a private teacher, she has held studios of elementary through high school students in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Lubbock, Texas, and the greater Boulder-Denver, Colorado area.

Sarah earned her Bachelor of Music degree from The University of Michigan in Viola Performance with a K-12 Music Teacher Certification where she studied with Detroit Symphony violist, Caroline Coade. During her undergraduate studies, she became proficient in all four of the orchestral string instruments with a focus on viola and violin. She holds a Master of Music degree from Texas Tech University where she studied with Dr. Kimberly Sparr. While earning her masters degree, Sarah was the head viola studio Teaching Assistant and the Head Librarian for the Orchestral Studies department.


Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Sarah currently lives in Broomfield, Colorado with her husband, Riley Bahin. Sarah enjoys hiking in the National Parks, running, and tending to her Animal Crossing island on her Nintendo Switch.
