Performances & Events at Parlando
Commissioned Composer Project
This project connects students to the full artistic process-from the idea for a piece from its composition to its debut performance. Students have the opportunity to be the first person ever to perform their particular work, which is an incredibly empowering experience. We hope that anyone who participates in or encounters this project comes away feeling joy, wonder, excitement, and inspiration. We hope students, composers, and audiences walk away feeling hopeful about the future of classical music and inspired to go home and create something themselves!
Our 2024 New Works Performance will take place on Friday, April 26, 2024, in the Grace Gamm Theatre at the Dairy Arts Center.
New Musical Project
Emerging musical theater composers have opportunities to see their works brought to life in front of an audience in the early stages of creation and student & amateur actors have opportunities to gain stage experience with new material and improve their performance skills.
Audiences are given opportunities to interact with new work and the local theater community is given opportunities to connect and collaborate.
New Musical Project allows us to discover and share new works by underrepresented composers & expand the musical theater repertoire of the actors and audience.
Parlando offers multiple staged performances for performances of various ages. In order to work towards equitable opportunities for all students, tuition is offered on a sliding scale. Sliding-scale tuition is based on the principle that a family’s financial commitment should be in equitable proportion to its financial resources. We ask that you determine the amount that is comfortable for your family, whatever that is. If you are able to invest more, in doing so, you are investing in creative opportunities for young people in our community!
Parlando on Pearl
Each fall, Parlando takes over the back patio of Trident Cafe for performances of any and all things pop music, while also running a scavenger hunt on Pearl Street! Our 2023 event was held on October 1; stay tuned for details about 2024!
