Cancellation & Makeup Policy
We want lessons to work around real life as much as possible, while keeping the experience consistent for every student and respecting our instructors' time. Here's how it works.
Missed private lessons
Lesson cancellations require at least 24 hours' notice, given directly to your instructor. If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, or don't show up, you forfeit that lesson: no makeup, no credit.
Lessons cancelled with proper notice can be rescheduled directly with your instructor. Any lesson that can't be rescheduled during the term may be made up during the makeup week at the end of the semester. Makeup weeks are offered during the fall and spring semesters only. During the summer semester, missed lessons may instead be rescheduled directly with your instructor at another agreeable time during the semester.
Each student may carry over up to one unused credit per instructor into the following semester; any beyond that are forfeited. Instructors with especially full schedules may apply minor variations to this policy. Parlando reviews these to ensure they stay consistent with our overall mission.
Instructor-cancelled lessons
If an instructor cancels a scheduled lesson, the student is entitled to a makeup lesson or an additional credit toward the next semester.
Group classes
Missed group classes are not eligible for a makeup or credit. Because group classes are enrollment-based, no refund or credit is issued for sessions missed due to withdrawal.
Withdrawing from lessons
Students discontinuing lessons for any reason must provide four weeks' notice. Tuition for those four weeks is due regardless of attendance.
Families who prepaid the semester in full will receive a prorated refund for lessons beyond the four-week notice period. Families paying monthly will be charged for the remaining four weeks only; billing then stops.
Families enrolled in the discounted school-year payment plan (lump sum or monthly) are also subject to a $125 cancellation fee upon withdrawal, in addition to the four weeks' notice. This fee does not apply to families on standard semester billing.
Billing
Parlando does not bill in arrears or issue monthly invoices. Books and accompanying fees, where applicable, are billed throughout the semester and are not included in tuition unless stated otherwise in the class description.
