Adam Bodine
Professional pianist and composer Adam Bodine thrives in a variety of roles and realms. As an educator, Adam enjoys connecting with music makers of all ages and skill levels. He has worked as an adjunct instructor at a multitude of music camps, workshops, and schools throughout Colorado. While his talent and enthusiasm for jazz wholeheartedly resonates, Adam is passionate and super proficient across a broad spectrum of musical categories.
Uniquely personalized explorations, music lessons with Adam are both fun and enlightening. Prioritizing creativity and self worth, Adam encourages and guides students to pursue what interests them, transcend limitations, think outside the box, and flourish in the freedom of being themselves.
Helping set the tone for this liberated approach to learning the language of music, Adam jokingly likes to blame his strict and rigid classical piano upbringing, where as a kid growing up in Chicago, he was coerced to play a plethora of high-pressure competitions and nerve-racking recitals alike. An emotional release to the traumatic tension he felt, Adam adapted on the fly and instinctively manipulated his “mistakes” as a springboard for improvisation. Blues, boogie-woogie, and rock ’n’ roll would emerge as a joyful outlet of musical expression during his early piano playing years. Eventually, Adam’s love of music, along with his CD collection, grew exponentially once he started jamming and collaborating with others.
An alum to Colorado State University, Adam earned a degree in Art History. His senior thesis was on David Byrne. Adam credits a lot of his post-college musical development and inspiration to the great pianist, composer, and mentor Art Lande, with whom he has studied with for years.
Adam Bodine has been playing music professionally for twenty years. His expressive authenticity especially comes to life through his eclectic original instrumental music. Playfully intermingling a compelling synergy of jazz, classical, rock, funk, and then some, Adam’s prolific and expanding discography as a composer, arranger, and bandleader reflects his own evolution and prevailing curiosity as an artist.
A remarkably versatile and highly sought after sideman as well, Adam has racked up thousands of performances with hundreds of groups, playing keyboards alongside some of the best in the biz, including a whole bunch of Grammy winners and nominees. He’s also subbed with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, as well as accompanied an assortment of musicals, dance troupes, improv comedy, and silent films. Extra cool, Adam plays in the house band at eTown, the illustrious and nationally syndicated radio show and multimedia organization out of Boulder.
