Alysse grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana as a young aspiring classical guitarist. The city’s vibrant culture of live music and performance shaped her as a musician and made her comfortable with both stage presence and the lifestyle of a performing artist.
She began playing guitar at around eight years old, starting with pop music before transitioning to classical guitar. Four years later, she was accepted into the preparatory program at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts. After completing the program, she continued her studies at NOCCA’s arts conservatory for all four years of high school under the guidance of Dr. Jay Kacherski. During this time, she participated in numerous festivals and competitions, including the Houston Classical Guitar Festival, where she placed third in the high school division in 2021 and second in College Division II in 2022. In May 2022, she was awarded the Moses Hogan Award for Outstanding Graduate in Classical Instrumental Music.
In 2022, Alysse was accepted into the University of Colorado Boulder’s College of Music, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Performance in classical guitar under Dr. Nicolò Spera. In summer 2024, she completed CIEE’s Contemporary Music Creation + Critique program in Paris, France. In summer 2025, she participated in early music studies and performances at the Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute in Toronto, Canada. In 2025, she also received CU’s Undergraduate Development Award.
Alysse performs in a variety of ensembles and studies early plucked instruments in addition to acoustic, classical, and electric guitar. She is currently completing her degree and plans to graduate in spring 2026.
