Ben Stasny

Ben Stasny recently completed his PhD at the University of Colorado Boulder. Ben’s doctoral dissertation focused on a series of improv workshops he has developed designed to relieve climate anxiety. He is a graduate student instructor and has taught courses on Improvisation, Theatre & Society, American Musical Theatre History, Acting, and more. He has also assisted for the course Creative Climate Communications for the past 2 years.

Ben frequently works as a theatrical director in Boulder. He partnered with NYC’s Climate Change Theatre Action to produce CU Boulder’s 2021 production of Climate Cabaret. Other recent directing credits include: The Lightning Thief,Twelfth Night, and 3 years as a director for the New Musical Project(Parlando School of Musical Arts), Company (assistant director at CU Boulder), Lend Me a Tenor, Freaky Friday, Mamma Mia (Fairview High School), The Fall of Man (ATLAS Black Box), and several new plays since 2021. Some favorite acting credits include, Off-Broadway: Harry in When Harry Met Nancy (New York New Works Festival), Tom Doerr in Stonewall (Benchmark Theatre), Tito/Beppo in A Comedy of Tenors (Okoboji Summer Theatre), The Narrator in The Soldier’s Tale (Boulder Philharmonic), The Genie in Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular (Disney Cruise Line), Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast, Pirelli in Sweeney Todd, Henry Etches in Titanic (Arizona Broadway Theatre), Zach in A Chorus Line, Ernst Ludwig in Cabaret, Fred in A Christmas Carol (The Palace Theatre), Father in Ragtime(Interlakes Summer Theatre) Ernst Ludwig in Cabaret (Sierra Repertory Theatre), The Cat in the Hat in Seussical the Musical (Highland Summer Theatre), Shaggy in Scooby-Doo and the Mystery of the Pyramid, Maddie in Care Bears (Event Box in Saudi Arabia).

Ben loves working as an actor, director, instructor, workshop facilitator, researcher, and the myriad other things that give his life purpose.
