Jason Greenlaw is an accomplished guitarist hailing from Pennsylvania. Graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.A. in Jazz Studies, he studied guitar under seminal Pittsburgh jazz guitarist, Joe Negri, and jazz combo and improvisation under the illustrious, Geri Allen. As a performer Jason co-founded, toured the east coast, and released three records with a jazz-rock group. While working for the 47th Annual Pitt Jazz Seminar and Concert in 2017, he had the opportunity to participate and perform alongside Kurt Rosenwinkel during his masterclass. In 2018, he performed with the Pittsburgh Opera in their production of ‘The Long Walk’. Additionally, he has led various jazz combos, played in big bands and rock groups, and regularly performs solo jazz guitar. Jason’s teaching philosophy is two fold; your learning never ends, and always have fun. After teaching for the better part of a decade, he has developed an understanding that catering each student’s lessons to their strengths, goals, and motivation is the best way to achieve real progress. He is always excited to show his students new music and styles to inspire their learning. Whether your interest in guitar is classic rock, jazz, brazilian, funk, pop, blues, or classical, Jason will guide you through proper techniques, theory, and important artists to give you a true appreciation and understanding of the music.
