She has a special focus in new music, and her work in this area has been called “sensational” by composer Tom Cipullo. Some of her recent appearances include Polly in Polly Peachum by Gene Scheer, Littler Daughter in Mazzoli’s Proving Up, Amor in L’incoronazione di Poppea, Nannetta in Falstaff, and Elle in Poulenc’s La Voix Humaine. In 2018, she was Younger Alyce in the Midwest premiere of Tom Cipullo's Glory Denied. Kailyn has performed with Art Song Colorado, Longmont Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Opera Theater, Eklund Opera, and more. She also received the 2018 Hakola Prize for Academic & Vocal Excellence.

Kailyn has extensive teaching experience. She is currently a graduate part-time instructor of Voice at CU Boulder. There, she teaches private students and a group voice class and assists with administration for the Voice Department. She is also on the voice faculty at Parlando School of Musical Arts in Boulder, CO, where she teaches her students a variety of genres, such as pop, musical theater, classical, and jazz. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kailyn taught voice at the Aurora School of Music in Aurora, Ohio. While there, she had almost 40 private students, led a contemporary choral ensemble, and founded and directed a now-annual musical theater scenes program for youth. Her students have won awards and acceptance from several institutions, including the University of Colorado Boulder, Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music, Ohio NATS, Ohio State University, Slippery Rock University, Cleveland Rising Star, and more.

Kailyn is also a Registered Yoga Teacher at the 500-hour level, and she incorporates concepts from yoga into her voice teaching to provide a more holistic approach to music education. She lives in Boulder with her husband and their adorable one-eyed Black Lab, Piper.
