Kathy Weng

$0.00

A graduate of Juilliard, Chia Fu (“Kathy”) Weng was born in Taoyuan, Taiwan. She began to study the violin at the age of four, and the piano at the age of six. She entered many competitions, showing her talent and passion toward music as a young violinist and pianist. At the age of eight she was selected to play in an international violin master class given by Midori Goto. She then won first prize in a national Taiwan piano competition at the age of nine.

While at Juilliard, Kathy studied with the first violinist of the Juilliard String Quartet, Joseph Lin. She participated in the Juilliard School Orchestra and frequently performed in Alice Tully Hall and also performed at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall where the Juilliard Orchestra concert was held and conducted by Itzhak Perlman. Kathy has participated in several festivals, masterclasses, and ensembles, including outreach performances for housing-insecure populations and retirement communities.

Since moving to Colorado in 2019, Kathy has been focused on teaching students of various ages and abilities – a passion she plans to continue for many years to come.
