Kyterra Waters is a current DMA student at the University of Colorado Boulder studying under Dr. Ryan Gardner. Originally from Colorado, Kyterra has travelled to places like Scotland, New Zealand, and various parts of the United States to pursue her music career. She received her Bachelor of Music Performance from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and her Master of Music from Illinois State University where she held the Graduate Teaching Assistantship under Dr. Anne McNamara.
As the trumpet studio’s Graduate Assistant, Kyterra performed with the brass faculty in their semester recitals and was a featured soloist for Brandon Ridenour’s Doves. She also led group warmup classes and gave private lessons to members of the studio. Kyterra also served as principal trumpet for the ISU Symphony Orchestra and their premiere Wind Symphony ensemble, leading weekly sectionals for both.
Between her studying, she also had the opportunity to play with the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra, Colorado Brass, and Vermillion Players’ Pit Orchestra, making her a highly adaptable performer. Kyterra enjoys connecting with the community through her performances and loves sharing all that she knows about music with her students.
When she is not in a practice room, Kyterra enjoys photography, playing video games, and cuddling with her cat, Bilbo.
