Leilani Spurlock is a Colorado-based musician, educator, and multi-faceted artist. She explores a variety of genres through performance in classical, jazz, commercial, and chamber ensembles. Leilani is a regular performer with chamber groups and wedding party bands in addition to being a substitute in regional orchestras across the Front Range.
As a soloist, Leilani was named the first place winner of the 2026 National Trumpet competition Graduate division as well as the Category II Trumpet Solo Competition at the 2025 International Women’s Brass Conference. She placed third in the 2025 NTC Graduate Division, and was a semi-finalist in 2024.
Leilani is active in chamber ensembles with primary experience in brass quintets and trumpet ensembles. Leilani was a member of the first place winning small trumpet ensemble at the 2025 National Trumpet Competition. This ensemble made history as the first all-female ensemble to win at NTC.
In addition to performing, Leilani is a passionate music educator offering private trumpet instruction, wind and marching band sectionals, and general music teaching. She has worked with students in school settings around the Boulder/Denver area and summer camps. Leilani emphasizes the joy of music making in her lessons and helps her students develop individualized practice plans that focus on their personal goals. Leilani received her master’s degree at the University of Colorado Boulder and her bachelor’s degree at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
