


Sydney Hoehl
Sydney Hoehl is a second year trumpet performance masters student at the University of Colorado Boulder. At CU, Sydney is active in symphony orchestra, opera orchestra, brass quintet, and trumpet ensemble. She was a member of the first place winning small ensemble at the 2025 National Trumpet Competition, which also made history as the first all-female group to do so. In addition to this national recognition, Hoehl was named a finalist in the 2025 CU concerto competition and a semi-finalist in the 2024 Ekstrand Graduate Solo Competition.
During her undergraduate studies, Sydney was the principal trumpet of both the University of Oregon Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. She was a member of the Oregon Jazz Ensembles as well. Sydney found success in solo performances at UO as she was a finalist in the 2022 and 2023 concerto competitions. She was also awarded Honorable Mention in the 2022 Eugene Symphony concerto competition.
Currently, Sydney holds a section trumpet position with Orchestra Next in Eugene, Oregon. In addition to this, she is a substitute with multiple regional orchestras around Colorado. Hoehl has attended various summer music festivals including Eastern Music Festival, Colorado College Summer Music Festival, Varna International Music Academy, and The Atlantic Brass Quintet Seminar.
Hoehl’s primary teachers include Ryan Gardner, Miki Sasaki, Sarah Viens, Karin Bliznik, and Brian Mcwhorter.
