Alice Hyoung is a 29-year-old Korean-American classical pianist from Los Angeles with a passion for connection. As an active performer and competitor since the age of 13, Alice made her orchestral debut with the Doctor’s Symphony Orchestra at the age of 16. In 2012, Alice placed as winner of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Young Artists Competition and performed Saint Saens' Concerto with The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra in Walt Disney Concert Hall. Shortly after, Alice had the opportunity to perform and compete at a music festival in Beijing. Alice has continued to compete in prestigious competitions, including the International Liszt Competition and MTNA Young Artist Competition, receiving top awards for multiple years. She won both rounds of concerto competitions at Brigham Young University, while studying with Scott Holden and Stephen Beus, and performed concertos by Rachmaninoff and Prokofiev with the school symphony, philharmonic, as well as the Utah Philharmonic. Alice has consistently been a recipient of generous merit scholarships and performed in master classes with pianists Oxana Yablonskaya, Frederic Chiu, John Perry, and Logan Skelton. Alice especially loves to perform concertos, works of the Romantic Era, and pieces by underrepresented composers.

With a B.M. from Brigham Young University and M.M. from Manhattan School of Music, Alice is now based in Boulder, CO, pursuing her D.M.A. at the University of Colorado Boulder. She continues to perform and teach lessons online and in person. Alice is an advocate for those who suffer from mental illness, especially those diagnosed with BPD (borderline personality disorder) and seeks to be an activist through her music. Some of her other interests include reading, studying about psychology, connecting with nature, people-watching, and traveling.
