Gleyton Pinto
A Native of Brazil, Dr. Gleyton Pinto is an avid performer and teaching artist. He attended the Institute of Arts of the São Paulo State University (Unesp) for his undergraduate studies and graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in Clarinet Performance in 2005. Gleyton then attended the University of Colorado Boulder, graduating with a Master degree in 2021 and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Clarinet Performance and Pedagogy in May 2024.
Mr. Pinto served as teaching assistant for the clarinet studio at the University of Colorado Boulder for five years (2019-2024), acting as the primary clarinet faculty during the sabbatical leave of his major professor Daniel Silver in the fall of 2020. Throughout that time, Gleyton gained valuable experience teaching in both private and classroom settings, coaching chamber music groups of all levels and working closely with ensemble conductors to improve the musical experience and level of performance. In addition, Dr. Pinto appeared as a guest lecturer at the Sphinx Performance Academy 2024, presenting on his pedagogical projected entitled “Hearing Art and Seeing Music: How Visual Art will make you a better musician,” and chamber music coach and performer at the Saarburg International Music Festival 2022 in Germany. At the moment, Mr. Pinto is on the faculty of the Parlando School of Musical Arts in Boulder, Colorado.
An active ensemble player, Dr. Pinto served as bass clarinet and assistant principal clarinet of the Experimental de Repertório Orchestra from 2006 to 2013, assistant principal clarinet of the São Caetano do Sul Philarmonic Orchestra from 2008 to 2014 and principal clarinet/basset horn of the São Paulo State Symphonic Band from 2014 to 2017. He has collaborated in orchestral performances with many distinguish conductors, including Kurt Masur, Ronald Zollman, Ligia Amadio and others. Currently, Gleyton is a member of the Boulder Altitude Directive (B.A.D.) ensemble, a guest artist at the Colorado MahlerFest Orchestra and substitute clarinet/bass clarinet at the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra and Longmont Symphony Orchestra.
