Kari Clifton is a Colorado native and creative cellist who performs, teaches, and composes music in the Denver metro area. She has been performing professionally and maintaining a small cello studio since 2012 where she enjoys introducing improvisation and music arranging to students. Kari holds a BM in classical performance from the Metropolitan State University of Denver where she also studied jazz and improvisation. Notable past performances include performing in quartets and pop orchestras alongside Apashe, Pretty Lights, Josh Groban, Sara Brightman, Evanescence, 2 Cellos, and Trans-Siberian Orchestra. She has joined performances with several local Denver groups both on stage and in the recording studio, is a current member of the indie-folk group The Deborah Solo Trio, serves as Chair for the non-profit Cellists for Change, and is a former member of Denver’s rock-pop-classical fusion electric string quartet, Spinphony, where she contributed as a performer, arranger, and outreach organizer. As a classically trained musician with a love for all musical styles, Kari aims to bridge the gap between classical music and just about everything else.
