Kari Clifton is a Colorado native and creative cellist who performs, teaches, and composes music in the Denver metro area. She has been performing professionally and maintaining a small cello studio since 2012 where she enjoys introducing improvisation and music arranging to students. Kari holds a BM in classical performance from the Metropolitan State University of Denver where she also studied jazz and improvisation. Notable past performances include performing in pop orchestras alongside Josh Groban, Sara Brightman, Evanescence, 2 Cellos, and Trans-Siberian Orchestra. She has joined performances with several local Denver groups both on stage and in the recording studio, is a current member of the indie-folk group The Deborah Solo Trio, serves as secretary for the non-profit Cellists for Change, and is a former member of Denver’s rock-pop-classical fusion electric string quartet, Spinphony where she contributed as a performer, arranger, and outreach organizer. As a classically trained musician with a love for all musical styles, Kari aims to bridge the gap between classical music and just about everything else.
