KRISTEL JELINEK BROWN (she/hers) is a theater maker, civic artist, activist, dancer, and mama. Originally from Colorado, she holds a Masters Degree in Applied Theatre from the City University of New York, as well as a BFA in Theatre Performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Recent performance credits include: Lysistrata Jones at the Aurora-Fox (Cleonice), principal vocalist both for Norwegian Cruise Lines and Harrah’s Showboat Casino in Atlantic City, the first national tour of Urban Cowboy: The Musical (Ensemble); regional productions of Aladdin (Princess Jasmine), Aida (Ensemble), Grease (Frenchy), and Alice in Wonderland (White Queen). Directing/choreography credits include Xanadu, Little Shop of Horrors, The Sound of Music, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Parlando School of Musical Arts), original co-created productions with Imagine! of Lafayette, and two seasons with the Crested Butte Music Festival Opera Children’s Chorus, as well as assistant direction/choreography with Metro State University’s Opera Scenes program. Kristel is passionate about arts access for all and the reinvention of art-making & arts spaces as radical, inclusive, and democratic. Her teaching artist experience extends, locally, to the Denver-metro area as well as various senior/community centers and schools in the NYC-metro area. She currently resides in Broomfield with her partner, two children, and one bouncy puppy named Peggy.
