Theo Hayes

Theo Hayes (they/them) has been praised for their commanding stage presence and warm lyric mezzo tone. Theo received their bachelor’s degree in vocal performance from the University of Connecticut, studying under Meredith Ziegler. Hayes has performed the title roles of L’enfant in L’enfant et les sortilèges (UConn Opera Theater); Hélène in La belle Hélène (Franco-American Vocal Academy);and Young Marie Curie in the world premiere of Marie Curie Learns to Swim (Hartford Opera Theater). Theo was the first place winner in the advanced division district, regional, and national NATS competition in 2022.

Theo has been teaching private voice lessons since 2015 and is currently a voice instructor and administrative team member at Parlando School of Musical Arts. Theo is passionate about using opera and classical music as a platform to address social and political issues and is currently spearheading an operatic film project addressing the importance of queerness and accessibility in opera. Theo is currently a graduate student at The Juilliard School.
