Margot Krimmel

$0.00

Harpist Margot Krimmel likes to say she started her musical career at age three, singing whatever came into her head.

Before falling head over heels in love with the harp, the Denver native sang and played acoustic bass in a swing band, led a country western band on vocals and guitar, and dabbled on piano and flute. Her harp studies include private lessons with Helen Hope (orchestral), Deborah Henson-Conant (jazz) and Sylvia Woods (folk), as well as many workshops with internationally known harpists and musicians.

She taught private harp lessons at Colorado Academy for over 10 years, as well as teaching at Naropa University, Swallow Hill Music School, and Colorado Mountain College. She has completed master teacher classes with The Suzuki Institute for harp pedagogy and graduate classes in Orff Schulwerk at the University of Northern Colorado.

In 1992, she began The Boulder Harp Studio with a handful of youth on folk and pedal harp.

Her strong Suzuki background focuses on collaborating with parents and school music class/orchestra teachers, realizing the potential of every child and above all, teaching with love.  She encourages students to explore a variety of styles of music, composition, and improvisation as well as classical music.

"I love teaching the youth, my adult students love learning as youth.  They love the combined elements of Suzuki and Orff pedagogy coupled with passion and inspiration." mk
