Mark Ivlev
When Mark was in third grade, his class watched the fourth and fifth grade bands perform, and he was so enamored by that performance that he could not wait to join the band in his next year of school. He began playing saxophone in fourth grade at the age of 10. Ever since, he has continued on his musical journey enjoying tours to California, New York’s Carnegie Hall, and Japan with various ensembles such as his high school symphonic band and his local youth symphony organization.
Mark is now pursuing a bachelor of music degree as well as a computer science degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder and is in his fourth year at CU. He has been involved in several music ensembles at CU including multiple saxophone quartets, jazz ensembles, lead saxophonist of the University Symphonic Band, and currently alto saxophonist for the Wind Symphony, the university’s top ensemble. One of the highlights of his time at Boulder was the opportunity to participate in a master class for Claude Delangle, the professor of saxophone at the Paris Conservatory, and widely regarded as one of the very finest saxophone players in the world. The following summer, Mark attended the European University of Saxophone, a two week intensive camp under the instruction of seven of the world's leading saxophone players and pedagogues, once again including Claude Delangle.
Mark hopes to one day become a professor of saxophone, so he loves teaching students. He can adapt to the needs of every individual, and guide his students to bring out the best saxophonists they can be. He can teach all levels and any type of music.
