Nicholas Navarre grew up in Nederland, Colorado, where he developed a lifelong passion for music. His early musical influences ranged from the rock and folk bands that performed at the Pioneer Inn to the opera broadcasts he listened to in his grandmother's car. He began singing and playing guitar at the age of 13, and by his teenage years was performing with his band at venues throughout the Denver area and on KGNU.
Nicholas earned a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Metropolitan State University of Denver, where he appeared in opera productions, performed as a soloist with the Denver Philharmonic, and continued performing with his rock band. At 18, he joined the Opera Colorado Chorus, appearing in productions including Die Zauberflöte, Carmen, Rigoletto, Roméo et Juliette, and others.
Nicholas went on to earn a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the UMKC Conservatory, where he studied with Dr. Maria Kanyova. A versatile vocalist, Nicholas performs across a wide range of musical styles and has appeared in numerous operatic roles, some of which include Nardo in La finta giardiniera, Falke in Die Fledermaus, Slook in La cambiale di matrimonio, Sid in Albert Herring, Bluff in The Impresario, the title role in Gianni Schicchi, and Count Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro.
In addition to his work in opera and contemporary music, Nicholas has extensive experience in musical theater as a performer, guitarist and bassist in the pit orchestra, backstage as a technician, set designer and builder, and can be heard on the original cast recording of the new musical Getting Through April. When not performing, Nicholas can be found writing new music with his band, Home Run King, traveling with his wife and son, or enjoying some Dungeons & Dragons in his basement
