At CU-Boulder, Sarah centered much of her research and academic studies around the inclusion and incorporation of underrepresented and/or marginalized composers into the Western classical music canon, promoting their works in recitals, competitions, and personal research documents. Over the course of her doctoral studies, credits with the Eklund Opera program include: Mimì (La Bohème), Agrippina (Agrippina), and Mutter (Hänsel und Gretel). When not on stage, she can often be found working backstage as an Assistant Director or Assistant Stage Manager.

Currently, Sarah is in the process of completing her pedagogical dissertation, An Approach to Vocal Pedagogy for Diverse Learning Needs, which discusses solutions to aid in the minimization of the physical and mental stress experienced by students with diverse learning needs within the private voice studio, while providing the necessary tools to continually encourage, foster, and assist in the advancement of their skills as a singer, musician, and performer.
