Born and raised in Singapore, Monica Lee is a doctoral candidate at the University of Colorado Boulder, where she studies with Jennifer Hayghe. She holds Chancellor’s Fellowship, an award offered to the top incoming graduate student at the College of Music. Monica recently completed a master’s degree at the Eastman School of Music where she studied with Alan Chow. Prior to embarking on her musical studies, she earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, politics, and economics at the University of Oxford, and a master’s degree in public policy at the University of Chicago; additionally, she held a pre-doctoral fellowship while at the University of Chicago. She has played in master classes for Richard Goode, HieYon Choi, Spencer Myer, Kevin Kenner, Inna Faliks, and Daniel Shapiro, amongst others. She is a prizewinner of several national and international competitions, including the Memphis International Piano Competition and the Brevard Music Center Piano Competition.
